In 2013 Cath Kidston decided to take their online offering global. They believed that PureFluent, a leading provider of international retail language services, were best positioned to help them to create a new language version of their ecommerce site promoting their British, modern vintage brand to a new French target market.
Terminology management was applied to great effect for this project; British colloquialisms and brand terminology were defined and managed by a dedicated terminology manager in the early stages of the process. Company brief and style guides were created to capture the quirky and distinct tone of voice of this British brand icon. All support material was produced in close collaboration and reviewed by Cath Kidston to ensure that the outcomes were matched to their expectations.
Our specialist team of creative copywriters, combined with supporting translation tools such as Translation Memory facilitated an efficient workflow, resulting in a successful outcome for what was a challenging high volume task. The post translation validation review allowed Cath Kidston to make any preferential changes to the translation and strengthened our teams’ understanding of the brand, and as such, we continue to build on and enjoy our strong relationship with the company.
“I found the level of communication and ease of the process to be very good. The files came back to us exactly how we sent them too, which meant that they were easy for me to upload into our database without needing to understand the translation.” Cath Kidston
